Noise Performance with Ceramic Drums, Piezos, and Speakers in Feedback

Noise Performance/Concert with Ceramic Drums, Piezos, and Speakers in Feedback

DNSEP Sound Design graduation project at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts du Mans @talm_lemans in partnership with @ircam_paris, awarded Highest Honors from the jury.

Inspired by no input practices, I set out to create an augmented instrument. Through my research, I realized that piezo microphones could be used both as beaters and as sound sensors.

I use piezos to generate feedback loops through a triple transduction process: electrical (piezo), acoustic (speaker), and mechanical (drum skin).
Like no input systems, this setup is entirely generative.

This performance lies at the intersection of experimental music, improvised music, and noise practices. The DIY approach to sound production, along with the textures and effects it creates, closely resonates with noise aesthetics.
